Trudeau offers a wide variety of Residential Services for adults with developmental disabilities throughout the Kent County area. The opportunities range from homes which provide twenty-four hour staffing to apartments where there is an increased focus on independence.
All services are individualized to meet the current needs of the person. To the greatest extent possible, people live in the type of home environment which best meets their wishes and needs. Annual meetings, which review the wishes and goals of the adults supported, assist the Trudeau team to provide the best possible quality of care. Frequent review of these goals on a continuous basis assists to assess the satisfaction of people supported, and allows the team to make adjustments necessary to ensure the person's happiness and safety. As always, families and friends of the person supported are an important part of the Trudeau team.
The models of residential services currently offered by the Trudeau Memorial Center include:
- Fully Accessible Homes of approximately 5 to 7 adults with 24-hour staff support
- Homes of approximately 3 to 6 adults with 24-hour staff support
All residential staff are thoroughly trained and provide supports which vary according to the needs of the individual. These supports may include assistance in:
- Budgeting
- Banking
- Meal preparation
- Daily household chores
- Community integration
- Personal hygiene
- Recreational opportunities
- Other identified needs
More than 'a place to sleep', Trudeau's Residential Services offers the adults supported an opportunity to be actively involved in their household and community.
